MRS DIANA BANCROFT
I’m pleased to be a Foundation Governor at the school where our 4 sons were educated in the 80s and early 90s. The Christian foundation they received has stood them in good stead for their future education and their chosen careers, 2 as teachers.
I am Chester Archdeaconry President of the Mothers’ Union, a Christian organisation supporting families worldwide. In addition, I am working for the local Foodbank. I’m a member of St.Peter’s Church where I have various roles. I’m a member of the PCC and it is my intention to keep them up to date with school news. My grandchildren also keep me busy!
I was a Parent Governor and later a co- opted Governor at the Verdin High School for 15 years. At the same time, I was a Foundation Governor at Wharton Primary School for a short period of time. I enjoyed being involved in school life. At each school, I was involved in the appointment of a new head.
Although I am a qualified nurse and midwife my interest has always been in education. For many years I gave private piano lessons and more recently I was a peripatetic keyboard tutor at the Verdin High School. My husband and I always supported our sons’ schools and encouraged them throughout their education.
MR JAMES BANCROFT
As a past pupil of Whitegate (many years ago) I am delighted to be able to support the school as a governor. I am married to Lisa and have two children, Lily and George. I am a Principal at a large primary school in Crewe and I am also a governor at a local federation of schools. I am passionate about learning and enrichment through experience. Whitegate is a thriving and improving school and it is a real privilege to be part of the journey.
MRS VAL COTTERILL
I became a co-opted governor at Whitegate in 2015 following my retirement from primary education.
I worked for over 30 years as a primary school teacher, starting my career at Whitegate School. I went on to become a head teacher, first in a small rural school and then in a larger urban school. For the four years I was Chair of the Cheshire Association of Primary Head teachers.
I have lived in Whitegate since I was three and was married at St Mary’s. I love to spend time with my family and friends and enjoy volunteering at Station House Café and for The Joshua Tree, a charity based in Northwich. I’m a member of Whitegate and Marton Parish Council and secretary for Whitegate Recreation Room.
Family is very important to me and I enjoy travelling in our motorhome and spending time with my daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandchildren
I thoroughly enjoyed my career in primary education and remain passionate about offering an inspiring and challenging curriculum and environment to all children to ensure they become the best they can be. I am delighted to be able to offer my skills and experiences to support the school.
MRS TERESA FINNEY
I have had a long association with the school, as all three of my boys attended Whitegate Church of England Primary School over a period of 12 years. I am a committed Christian and the Children’s Worker for St. Mary’s & St. Peter’s Churches, so work closely with the school as part of the Ministry Team to continue to strengthen the links between the school and the church.
Before becoming a mum I was an Architectural Technician, working in private practice and the Local Authority, latterly in the department that dealt with Church of England Primary Schools. These are valuable skills in managing the upkeep, maintenance and any further building projects the school may wish to undertake.
Whitegate school holds a place very close to my heart, and I want to work to help make sure that it can be the best school it can be, and to give opportunities for all the children in our school community to thrive educationally, socially, emotionally and spiritually, learning about the love the of God.
MRS RUTA PORWOLL
When I was 13 years old, I was sure that I had learned everything there is to know. Since then, I have lived in different countries, worked in different jobs and the reassurance of “knowing it all” shrank. There is always more than one way to look at anything, is my motto now. Therefore, I like to remind myself to keep an open mind.
To be a parent governor at Whitegate is very exciting for me. I have followed school life for the last 7 years (2012-2019) as a parent, volunteer, kitchen assistant, afterschool club leader and coworker. During this time Whitegate Primary became my family. And now becoming a governor is a new role, which gives me an additional opportunity to support the sometimes challenging task of co-creating a harmonic and constantly progressing school community. And I am very excited to be an asset in this process.
MRS SHARRON ROSS
I am thrilled to be working at Whitegate C of E Primary School teaching Elm and being part of the wider community. Although this isn’t the first time that I have worked at Whitegate, prior to starting my teacher training I volunteered in the classrooms and worked as a midday assistant. Since completing my training I have been teaching in Cheshire for 10 years. I am passionate about teaching and like to make learning fun and exciting for all the children.
Outside of school I enjoy walking, swimming and reading. Music is also a passion of mine, although I am not an expert musician, I love listening to all genres of music and thoroughly enjoy attending live performances.
MRS EMMA SOAME
Upon returning back to Cheshire after 4 years in Dublin, we were delighted that our 2 boys were able re-join the Whitegate family...so delighted that I chose to join the team as a parent governor in spring 2018! I am committed to supporting the parents and pupils throughout their school journey - even if that's just by being a friendly face at drop off or pick up.
I feel strongly about strengthening the communication links between parents and school - providing clear and concise updates that enable open and honest conversations. As part of my role, I'm also a member of the finance team and hope to bring business acumen from my role as a program manager in the FMCG world. Please feel free to stop and say hello.
